There is a service bulletin about the problem. During manufacturing, metal shavings get between the head and gasket/block, over time it causes a leak in the right rear or left front of engine, and is considered to be a non issue to FORD. Their excuse is that it does not effect performance or safety...maybe we can put some of the executives in my Ford with this problem? See how long it takes for them to be overtaken by the carbon monoxide poisoning??? But who am I to complain...My toddler and young son seem to enjoy the smell....NOT!!!
Purchased 1999 Expedition from my uncle who is a senior.Truck had 14,000 miles when i purchased from him 5 years ago, as you can tell he did not use it much.I have always been a Ford guy.This is my 3rd ford brand vehicle, but iam loosing faith in them. Currently have 55,ooo miles on expedition.I noticed some months ago when pulling into work a burned oil smell and few days later smoke. Took it in was told it was the head gasket !!! Took it to my buddies Mech. said the same, Head gasket. If you ask me a head gasket issue is way to soon.This truck is well taken care of, nice rims well waxed body, great interior,not one tear.It is such a damn shame.I think ford should take care of its customers by offering some help. Or better yet buy back their junk !!!
bought a 99 expedition from dealership and nothing wrong. drove it home and started smoking from under the hood. took it to the garage and they told me the oil leak was from the head gasket, and they said it was a common problem with the tritons. so ford if ya know about the problem make it right to your customers!!!!!!
nothing but problems, suspension went 2 times, radio, torque converter, window, mirror now headgasket. Ford knows this is a problem with the headgasket but does nothing to help the consumer. Next car will not be a Ford.
