: the contact stated the vehicle caught fire and burned while parked. A fire department report was taken. The vehicle was taken to a service dealer who determined that the fire started due to an overheated speed control deactivation switch. There was a NHTSA recall # 05V388000 which pertained to the vehicle speed control. The dealer determined that the vehicle was included in the recall, however the contact stated that there was no recall notice received.
I backed out of a parking space and had my foot on the brake as I shifted out of reverse and into neutral. As soon as I shifted into drive the engine accelerated with great force. I kept my foot on the brake pedal and shifted back into neutral and turned of the ignition stopping the vehicle and avoiding an accident. I measured the resulting tire skid mark from the left rear tire and it was about 9 feet long. I took the vehicle to the Ford dealer on January 23, 2006 for a diagnostic checkup. They kept it overnight and tried to duplicate the unintended acceleration and to check out any possible mechanical defects. None were found and the vehicle was returned with a suggestion to have a vehicle data recorder installed when one was available.
While vehicle was in park with ignition turned off and with driver standing outside of vehicle and reaching into ignition to take keys out vehicle began to roll backwards and slammed into the pavement, hitting a parked car before coming to a stop.
The throttle in the vehicle started to stick. This happened when the weather started getting cold. When consumer took the vehicle to the mechanics garage, he showed consumer a technical service bulletin (99-25-2) stating that the PCV system may ice up. The accelerator sticks. Consumer would shut the engine off and turn it back on only to have the engine race to about 65 mph. However before consumer would get off the interstate the accelerator would release. Now it remains stuck. Consumer is afraid to drive vehicle for fear of an accident. The consumer was told by the technician that the vehicle was not included in any recalls.

Engine continues to run after foot is taken off gas pedal, one time the vehicle accelerated up to 85mph...the only way to stop it was to shift it into neutral, when I did this the engine was revving to it's limits. I turned the engine off which meant the power assist to the brakes was no longer working. This seems to be an extremely unsafe thing for this vehicle to do. This was the last time the vehicle did this. After the truck sits for 5-10mins with the engine off it will restart & appear to be normal, however this problem reappeared 5 times in total in the course of a 400 mile trip. The big problem is that this vehicle will continue to run & ib one instance accelerate after the drivers foot is taken off the gas pedal.
While traveling 55 mph and when driver was decelerating vehicle started to accelerate by itself, even after brake pedal was being depressed. A second incident occurred two days later. No accidents or injuries occurred. Took vehicle to dealer.
Upon re-positioning my vehicle in a driveway, I backed up then attempted to proceeded forward. At this point my SUV suddenly accelerated while my foot was on the brake. Despite standing on the brakes, I took-out the bumper and trunk lid of the vehicle parked in front of me. The accelerator pedal was never depressed

On two occasions vehicle experienced high acceleration while driving. Also, cruise control would not engage/engine check light remained on/vehicle would jerk whenever transmission changed gears, and both odometer/speedometer failed to operate. Dealer notified.
