This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
June 4, 2010 [xxx] wmc tv 5 memphis, tn 38104 dear Mr. Wise and consumer investigators: Walmart is selling recalled tires outlawed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and department of transportation. This series was once sold by Firestone. This tire is responsible for over 26,000 deaths and $1M in damages etc. Goodyear bought the trademarked series mentioned in the subject line and is selling them only at walmart. This is the same product but different company. The tires specifics are P25570R16. I am preparing to take this step further to get this series removed from the shelves. It is the tires tread, depth, size, height, etc. That did not conform to the federal government's regulations an specificities. Contact me to further discuss this issue via email at [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). Updated IVOQ 10/22/10
My brakes started squiking, and that went on for about a week and then it became hard for me to stop. So now I have a lot of squiking and I have to stop way before I am suppose to. I bought some brake pads that did not fix the problem.
The truck abruptly pulled to the right while driving at 35 mph. Also, when this occurred there was a rattling noise from the front wheel. It sounded like something was loose. The truck pulled to the right with such force that it resulted in the truck hitting a curb and damaging the tire and rim. The mechanic indicated this could of been caused by a failure in the sway bar.
NHTSA has an ongoing preliminary investigation since July on this issue. This is for 1997-1998 Ford Expedition, they have already re-called Ford Explorer and Mountaineer for this problem. No safety defect listed.
While the vehicle was traveling at speeds in excess of 50 mph front end had severe vibration, and there was a rattling noise. Vehicle had to be stopped before vibration would stop. Dealership has looked at vehicle, but could not determine cause for this problem. Please provide any additional information / attachments.
There was no fore-warning of this break in suspension. Without a doubt if I had not just gotten off the highway my sister and I would have been killed in a rollover!!! the dealer would not take a complaint to Ford and gave me a hard time about fixing it since I did not purchase the car in Connecticut at their dealership. I paid in cash, they would not use my warranty.
My front supension was making bad squeaking noise but their is no grease fitting on the driver side so that you can grease it. So I took my vehicle to willoby Ford and they told me that the supension arm or something needed to be replaced. I haven't had it replaced yet. Would it be in my best intrest to wait and see what the gov't find out first?
Vehicle drifts to the right, aligned repeatedly and re-checked, continues to drift, created outside wear on drive tires. Rear wiper failed during rain storm. Power mirror works intermittenly. Power windows do not operate when key is out making it dangerous to exit in an emergency. Windshield wiper worked sporadically, replaced multi-function switch as per recall. Driver's power seat 'clunks' with medium to hard stop or acceleration, making it difficult to steer.
