This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The vehicle was placed in reverse for parallel parking. The accelerator was tapped for momentum. The engine raced, and the vehicle surged backward. Applicaiton of the brake pedal did not slow the vehicle. The car jumped the curb and slammed into a column (insurance adjuster estimated speed at 10 mph or more).
While backing out of the driveway the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated without warning which resulted in the vehcile hitting a brick wall. The cause is unknown. Nlm
Throttle cable intermittently sticks and lurches vehicle forward. It takes a little more pressure to accelerate which sometimes makes vehicle go faster than intended. Dealer was indifferent to safety concerns.
Engine check light is on, RPM's are at 0.5 and when I come to a near or complete stop the vehicle shuts off. When I took the vehicle to midas, there were 3 other Expedition, same year and near mileage as mine with the exact problem.
When making right hand turns vehicle intermittently acts like back is independent from front. When coming to a stop, vehicle bucks and drags. Dealer informed consumer that motor, rear sway bar link, forward drive shaft and speed sensor needed to be replaced.

From a parking space at a strip mall I backed into a 3' concrete pole, when I applied my foot to the brake and put the vehicle in drive, the vehicle sped off as if I had floored the accelerator. No amount of pumping the brakes did any good. I hit two other cars, took out a brick column and didn't stop until I hit a second brick column. Witnesses say that they did see brake lights on my vehicle.
Turning rt after a stop, I began to accelerate. Instantly the vehicle began to lisp to the left and travel across the center lane. Applying the brakes I could not turn back into the rt lane. The left drivers mirrow was ripped off as it clipped a neighbors lawn pole. Standing I still could not turn the vehicle. It stopped. Not able to exit the drivers door, I did the passengers. Inspecting, the left front wheel was gone. Towed to beaudrt Ford the vehicle had twice the damage as at the scene. ( pictures were taken at both places). Ask if there were any recalls, I was told no, 4 times. This is untrue. I have been forced to allow beaudry to fix my vehicle as they tell me they cannot get any Ford engineers to inspect the car. This SUV fell apart. 152,000 of the same year 4X4S were recalled.
Bumped post with rear bumper, engine revved in reverse, I applied brakes, put into drive, car sped forward very fast and uncontrollably into several parked cars.
When driver released accelerator pedal to begin braking and it became stuck down causing brakes to be ineffective due to the momentum of the vehicle. Nlm
First occurance: Vehicled stopped in left turning lane, at idle, with foot on brake, the vehicle attempted to accelerate on its own. Not just a little, but as if being significantly throttled. Second occurance: Vehicle slowing for school crossing with children crossing in front of vehicle. Speed less than 5mph, but not stopped, vehicle once again tried to throttle up on its own. I managed to hold the brakes long enough to shut engine off. Both occurances: Once engine was shut off, it appeared to reset the problem, and I proceeded as normal. Both times I could feel something engage and attempt to drastically accelerate the vehicle, much like cruise control engaging and accelerating. But, neither time do I believe the cruise control to be on, let alone being used. Dealership had the vehicle for a full day and could not detect a problem
When brakes were depressed the accelerator floored itself, passenger witnessed foot on brake and not the throttle. Passenger side seat belt did not work, and not air bags deployed. The vehicle frame was bent from the crash.
We experienced an involuntary acceleration, and Ford replaced throttle components. We were driving at highway speed and the throttle floored itself, and I had to pull the pedal back on two separate occations. And the pedal was not caught under the floor mat.
When sitting at complete stop vehicle was idling, cruise control was on, drivers foot on brake, the vehicle just took off, hit two cars and telephone posts. Dealer had repaired the cruise control on the 21-Dec-98. Dealer contacted again and assumed the cruise control is related in incident. Problem still exists. Vehicle not operable.
Started vehicle with foot on brakes. Shifted into reverse. Vehicle shot backwards at full throttle. Engine was screaming. Shifted into park & vehicle stopped quickly. Took vehicle to dealer & was informed never heard of problem.
