9th February 2014: Purchased brand new my Ford Everest 2.5l Turbo Diesel AT (Auto) from Saigon Ford, HCMC, Vietnam. From the second day of ownership until now the car has a tendency to 'flat spot'. This generally occurs after the car has come to a stop or slowed right down. I accelerate to move forward and then this 'pain in the ass' problem occurs. Total flat/dead spot, no power but engine does not cut out it simply just dies for a second or two. Power then returns, I do not have to restart, no warning lights come one etc etc..The issue is that I have nearly been rear ended so may times. I contribute at least one motor bike collecting my big arse spare wheel carrier to the 'flat spotting'. The crew at Saigon Ford are extremely courteous and their tech has bent over backwards trying to locate and fix the problem. The flat spotting is random and as often happens will not display the 'problem' when in the hands of the Ford Tech. However the tech did finally locate the problem and the fix was to replace the car's computer. This was done last week and I picked up my car last Thursday (19th May). Sadly replacing the computer has not remedied the problem as on my way home and several other times over the last few days the problem presented again as it has since Feb 2014. Simply put we are all frustrated with this problem but for me it is a bigger issue as it is DANGEROUS!. I have been lucky so far with only one gentle tap from one rear ending but considering Saigon has 8 million motor bikes (yes 8 million everyday!!! I am now an Aussie Superstar driving in the crazy traffic) running around each day I am very concerned that either next time one of us won't be so lucky. Additionally it is common practice here in Saigon for buses, trucks and taxis to tailgate. My family is at risk and so is the public. Today I will take the car back to the Saigon Ford and I expressed this, "Either fix it or give me a new car" I am hoping you have had others that have experienced this problem with their Ford Everest. Being sold in the Asian market only I am not overly confident others will know of this Ford vehicle or Ford problem. Hope some one reaches out to me here in Saigon, cheers Bazza.
