: the contact stated while stopped, the vehicle was rear ended. The other vehicle was going 45-55 mph. When this occurred the fuel system did not shut off, the airbags did not deploy, and the seat belts did not retract. The entire rear end of the vehicle was crushed; the contents of the trunk struck the contact causing minor injuries. There was a police report taken at the scene. The vehicle was towed to the dealership and the rear end was replaced.
The smell of gas fumes in the passenger compartment is subtle while the car is in motion. When the car idles the fumes increase in intensity. The dealer was unable to find the cause and claimed they did not experience the problem when they tested it.
While pushing in on the clutch, it sounds like vehicle is still accelerating, when in fifth gear it does not sound like it is engaged, dealer has done the following: Replaced spark plugs and wires, cleaned injectors, replaced the air cleaner, and replaced the mass air flow sensor, the problem is still occurring.
