The battery died on my Escape hybrid. Looked on forums and everyone said Ford batteries were too small and we paid $240.00 for a new better battery, out of pocket. The car started for a second with the new battery and then totally froze up. Ford dealer said tow it in, they had to reset the parameters. First tow truck couldn't do it and ordered a big flatbed truck to drag it onboard. That was Aug. 15th, and it is now day 55.
Have never gotten my car back, dealership first said it was maybe rodents. Nope. Then an electronic module which was backordered. Waited for that, didn't work. Then it was the transmission. They are just throwing things at the wall hoping something will work. They finally gave up and contacted Ford tech in Detroit. I've been waiting 3 weeks for any news. I'm going to get a lemon law lawyer now as I don't trust this car. I'm a 67 yr. old woman who lives in So. Cal., with the busiest freeways in the country. I drive my 3 grandkids, 1 yr., 6 and 15. What would I do if the car froze up while driving? I have a customer service rep. at Ford but now her voice mail is full and I can't reach her. Ford sent me to a dead end number when I asked about arbitration, it rang then hung up. Called CA. Consumer Affairs and the same thing happened twice. Rings and disconnects. I really don't want to get a lawyer, but think I must. Also, Ford dealership didn't have a rental car for me for 2 weeks! I only got a car when I went in and wouldn't leave without a car, making a bit of a scene. I was given an F-150 pickup truck. It is very hard for me to park, of course, but I'm grateful that I got anything!
We used to be a huge Ford family, but over the years went to dependable Toyota/Lexus. I sold my Highlander so we could get a tow vehicle which I would use as my daily car. I've been car shopping for 5 weeks now, waiting to hear about my car. I've given up on it, don't want it back. If Ford doesn't know how to repair their own product, then who does? REALLY disappointed in Ford and will never buy nor refer anyone ever!
