I just bought this Ford Escape Hybrid in a GSA auction and was very happy about the condition of both the body and the engine of the vehicle. It runs like a dream and I'm getting terrific gas mileage. But the experience of buying domestic, something I haven't done in 30 years, has been marred by the failure of the window regulators on two windows, the front passenger and rear driver's side, all within one week of the purchase. The windows just recede into the door and wont' go up again.

This is not an electrical problem as I understand, but the use of a cheap plastic cable with the regulator. The vehicle is used and not under warranty, so while this is not a difficult fix it's both highly inconvenient and very expensive (nearly $400 per window). So within one week this car has cost me almost an additional one-thousand dollars. Ford has made a vehicle that could be competitive with any other hybrid SUV like the Toyota Highlander, but chose to use inferior parts.

In doing so instead of writing a great review for this vehicle, I'm beginning to think it's going to be a money pit and it will seriously make me reconsider buying another Ford vehicle. Too bad, I'd like to wave the flag and recommend it to others, but not with this lack of follow through on quality.

I have replaced 6 power window regulators in six years, unacceptable. Ford has covered 3 times, this is unacceptable. Window drop when regulator goes out. Last time was traveling in 110 degree weather. This item needs to be a recall. From what I have been told the extreme heat affect the plastic piece in the regulator. Perhaps they need to improve the regulator or not sell these cars in the desert.
