Over the past 4 months, driving fine on interstates 60-70 mph; suddenly the diagnostic center message says "pull over safely" and all power is lost except enough to get over to the side (thankfully always in the right lane). Shut off engine, wait a couple of minutes and then (so far) start up and all is well. Taken it to 2 Ford dealers and 2 independent ones; hook it up to a computer and check stuff, no problems found; can't duplicate the problem so they think I'm nuts.

Driving home from the mountains we started to hear a noise under the hood. No lights, engine check said everything was fine. Noise got louder at higher revs so pulled over, and checked, nothing obvious. Nursed it home, took it to dealer. They say there is less than a quart of oil in the engine. Why no inidicator lights? they can't explain. Any leaks? No, no leaks. So where did the oil go? Similar stories are easy to come by on the various websites.

Engine has been maintained on schedule or very close by dealer and lube shops. This is a low mileage vehicle, the dealership did the last lube and all major check-ups. Seems to me the only likely explanation is that they did not put enough oil in it when they did the last maintenance--what else. Dealer and Ford are refusing to take any responsibility other than discounting the repair $700. I've owned two Fords in a row, never again.
