I have two issues with my 06 Escape Hybrid. First was a fairly simple, but expensive fix.

For months while trying to fill the gas tank, the pump would just shut off. Even at the lowest speeds it took forever to fill the tank. Needed: Charcoal canister to the tune of $450...I was told this is a design flaw by the Ford mechanic. It's role is to keep water out of the fuel system, however road spatter can fill the canister and Washington state is known for its rainy seasons.

Second issue is much more serious...my car had decided that when I need it to have power, it shuts down or loses power. I am now in the shop for the 4th time, and have over $500 in this repair since the end of January. Plus, I have been without my car for almost 3 weeks during repairs. (ps. The dealership IS providing a rental car after the first NON-fix) I have replaced a "throttle body" which was not the problem, some kind of "sensor" that they were kind enough NOT to charge me for because the "throttle body" wasn't needed...and NOW they think I need a new "battery cable" that has taken over a week to get the part. Now close to a dozen times my car has either stalled while passing, or accelerating to merge onto a major interstate....or simply died...while accelerating. I get a flashing battery light with two different cautions: 1) Check emissions SOON, or 2) Turn engine off safely NOW...or it turns off by itself. So you can see my frustration?? I love my car, and until all this was anxiously awaiting the 2012 new body style to purchase another. I cannot tell if Ford is just trying to get more money in repairs, or if the car really is in jeopardy....like it put me in!!! Fortunately, I didn't cause any accidents...WHEW!
