This seems to be a systemic problem among Ford Escapes and Ford Explorers. The alarm goes off randomly and I thought it was related to the sun warming the SUV causing an electrical short. A few months ago, it started randomly going off at night. I have heard others have payed extraordinary amounts to have sensors replaced only to have them fail again shortly. I have requested that the dealer and my private mechanic fix the problem but to many mechanics of a certain gender, if it doesn't happen when they are in attendance, the problem doesn't exist.
FORD needs to recall this and fix it for all of us long suffering Escape and Explorer owners.
