Third owner 168k to current 210k. Wheel bearing failure as should be expected for vehicles over 200k. May have inadvertently pressed brakes down while starting vehicle mid bearing replacement resulting in the cylinder pushing out and losing some brake fluid. Pulled knuckle, had new bearings pressed in, but now I have my brake light on constantly. Tire shop indicated that only Ford could properly bleed the brakes of their hybrid model, do I grab my ankles and expect Ford to do what Ford does best or does someone have a workaround? I'm not going to pay for a repair that costs half the value of the vehicle.
Despite topping off the fluid, I am running around with mushy unpredictable brakes. Other problems with car showing its age; the high beam switch is failing and requires me to manually hold the switch in a sweet spot not to blind my fellow drivers (anyone here remember the sweet and simple foot switch before this all-in-one nonsense on the column?) New replacement unit could have easily been a U-shape, but Ford knew anyone could make that kind of repair quick and simple but instead decided to make it a donut where you have to pull the steering wheel and disable the potentially lethal airbag system to install.
Another pain in the ass, the right rear passenger "door open" alert keeps coming on when the door is secure. Not a big deal until you learn that the automatic alarm that sets when you park the thing triggers and the blinkers run all night as you sleep leaving you to call AAA or bum a jumpstart come morning. I risk leaving the rig unlocked all night or risk not having a job because it has made me late for work multiple times. Would love to learn how to completely disable that miserable alarm feature.
