I purchased my 2006 Ford Escape just a few months ago for a great price. Now I see why. The brakes are going to the floor. Mechanic 1 said someone installed a junkyard ABS unit. After paying him to bleed the brakes and Ford dealership to program the ABS unit, I still have no brakes. The dealership says one code C1525 comes up and they don't know how to bleed these brakes. They say they have contacted Ford before on this same matter, many times to no solution. A car with unfixable brakes is not a car. Not a good deal.

Escape Hybrid

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,123 miles

Bought the car from Novato Ford, now Journey Ford in 2008.

A few days ago I had to brake hard, but as far as I could tell the antilock braking system (ABS) did not engage. The next day I noticed that as soon as I started the car the ABS and Brake Light were on. I took it to a local repair shop where they ran a diagnostic scan, which returned code C1475.

The non-Ford repair shop said they would need to follow Ford's technical service bulletin and the repair would cost $3,500 in parts and another $700 in labor.

This is the service bulletin from Ford Motor Company. My car is not under warranty. I will never buy another Ford or American car.

The ABS light came on, I took it to a regular shop and all the brakes are good no problem found. They check the module but the problem continued. Finally I took it to Ford dealer and right now is under inspection that will cost me $150 for the diagnosis. I will let you know what is next. Hopefully is just a minor problem as the initial shop told me that it just maybe to reprogram the computer and the ABS light will go away.
