Ford TSB #SSM 50338
2021 Ford Escape
TSB Document:
Affected Component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary
- Some 2020-2021 Escape and 2021 Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with a 1.5L EcoBoost engine may experience a lack of power, excessive spark knock and an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and/or a powertrain malfunction (wrench) indicator with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P130D stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This concern typically occurs under moderate to high load conditions at highway speeds. This may be due to a loose ground at G109 or G107. To correct this condition, inspect G109 for the ground eyelet being installed upside down/loose/corrosion and G107 ignition coil ground. The eyelet on G109 has a tab that should be facing down to stop rotation during tightening.
