Ford TSB #SSM 48848
2020 Ford Escape
TSB Document:
Affected Component: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
- Summary
- Some 2020 Escape vehicles built on or after 10-Jan-2020, equipped with a 1.5L EcoBoost engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with only diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P04DB in the powertrain control module (PCM). If this DTC is retrieved with other DTCs, diagnose those first. Engineering data has confirmed that DTC P04DB is typically a green engine and/or low mileage concern that will not repeat if a crankcase ventilation system concern is not present. Inspect the crankcase ventilation tube at the rear air intake system connection for a partial disconnect. If the crankcase ventilation tube is not disconnected and no concern is identified after performing Powertrain Control and Emission Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual pinpoint test HG, clear the DTC using the appropriate Ford scan tool and return the vehicle to the customer.
