This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
My front drivers door started squeaking and yesterday it started making this crunching noise. I noticed that I have three holes on the inside front door panel where the hinges are. I was told by a mechanic that the door check arm on the interior of the door the weld did not hold and that was the noise I was hearing it braking. I can not open my door all the way and it gets stuck open sometimes. I called Ford and because my car is 2800 miles over warranty they will do nothing. Upon investigation I have found you have an investigation into this problem SSM 50150. I have a Ford 2020 Escape. How is it that the weld on a 3 year old car breaks? I have not had it repaired because of the cost involved. I feel this should be escalated to a recall.
My compressor went out during a road trip and it spread metal particles through the entire AC system, ruining basically the whole thing. My concern is the sheer number of ford escapes that seem to be having issues with their compressors. So many that the part is on back order almost everywhere. I think it-??s worth looking into that Ford may need to recall this part.
The driver side door brake isn't working properly due to broken welds in the assembly. I took it to my Ford dealer, and they will not give warranty consideration because the vehicle is over 36,000 miles, but under 3 years. I have done some research, and this is an ongoing problem with this model year. Their solution is to have me pay for an entire new door and assembly at a cost of between $2500-$3500.
Dealer advised it is a bracket inside the door that has broken, possibly due to broken welds holding said bracket. The Dealer advised that this is an unfixable issue, and the entire door needs replaced. If it is not fixed, the dealer said it will cause other issues with the door, possibly leaving it inoperable. Dealer also confirmed this is a very common issue with this model and that it is not covered. The Dealer said I will need to repair at my own expense, with an estimated cost of $2,000 or more.
Broken spot welds in the left front door at the check arm attachment point in the door assembly. Window not operable. Door difficult to close due to interference of broken bracket inside door assembly. This is a known issue for make/model. Poor quality spot welds at point of attachment.
My door all of a sudden started popping and now the window will not go down and the door will not lock. The welded spots to hold on the door henge thing is gone and the henge is free moving in the door but still attached to the frame.
The welding at the door check has completely come apart on the driver door and is popping in the passenger door. The driver window no longer rolls down.
I am reporting a weld malfunction on the driver's side door for the check arm assembly. I started to hear a log poping noise out of the blue one day. And the next thing i knew the door was not opening properly. Took it in they informed me the weld had broken and that i would need a brand new door. I unfortunately am no longer under warranty. And feel this should be a recall, given it is a manufaturers error.
We noticed a loud "popping" sound in the hinge of the driver side front door. The door was unstable and we had trouble shutting the door. After research we realized this could be a problem that could cause the door to open while driving. The car is at a Ford Dealer being repaired now and the cost to me is $1157. Ford is not taking care of this dangerous situation.
I just took my 2020 Ford Escape (bought new) into Maryland State Emissions for testing, they informed me that many Ford models do not connect with the computer at MD State Emissions. When I took the car back to Ford for a software up grade they said they could not sell a car without passing emission for MD State. However they would perform the upgrade and charge me. So why did you give them permission to sell a car that can not pass the emissions test? If you search on-line you will see many people have this exact problem. This should be under a warranty recall, at no charge!! They also told me that the car was out of warranty, of course it is how can I know the car emissions won't connect to MD State computer if it takes over 2 years for MD State to require your first test!
My driver's side front door has started to make a large popping noise and is resisting opening/shutting. A few days after this started my window has also started to act up, not wanting to go all the way down or going down when I'm trying to get it to go up.
The center hinge connecting the driver's side door to the car has become disconnected as if it is no longer welded to the car door. This hinge limits how far the door can swing open. The concern is the door being unable to close completely and the window mechanism not working properly. The problem was first noticed on July 5 as there was a clicking sound as the door was opened as well as some resistance. People at three different dealerships noted that "this is a problem that has been occurring." The third Ford dealership is willing to do the work. Here the problem was documented and is scheduled to be repaired on July 24. A new door will need to be ordered and replaced. The service manager warned me of two complications that could possibly occur because of the broken hinge. Since July 5 I have been exiting and entering my three year old car through the passenger side since I cannot risk not being able to close the door. I also am careful not to open the window as it may come off of its track.
Some 2020-2021 Escape vehicles may exhibit cracks or broken spot welds in the left front door at the check arm attachment point in the door assembly. My door started making a lot of noise when opening it and closing it. Now I can only open my door to a certain degree and and cannot open it all of the way. My window now is not working properly so I can't open it without it getting stuck halfway down. Is very hard to close the window.
Service engine soon light is on due to the injector problem that has been recalled, but has not been fixed yet, because the dealer has not received the parts yet. Service engine soon light is also throwing a code for the catylitic converter and it-??s causing the vehicle to run and shift poorly and getting worse fuel economy because of this issue. I have always bought Fords and I-??m very dissatisfied with the problems I-??ve encountered since I-??ve purchased this vehicle. I think these issues need to be addressed and fixed ASAP, because this could potentially lead to a fire under the hood or underneath. Toni Ann
Back in March my door started making a popping noise. As time went on the weld spots broke which then led to me not being able use my car door window or lock the doors as the fuse keeps blowing due to the parts that are broken. My door also doesn-??t latch completely and I don-??t feel safe.
