The sunroof on my 2018 Ford Escape exploded today, May 27, 2019. It sounded like an explosion. We brought it to Robinson Bros. Ford in Baton Rouge, La where we purchased the vehicle. The service department weren't sure if it would be covered under the warranty bc it is glass. I came home and found this site. It looks like this is happening to quite a few people. Their tech is going to check it out and I will be glad to post the outcome. I am very frustrated with this problem.
Update from Jun 13, 2019: We picked up our vehicle from Robinson Bros. today, June 13, 2019. Our warranty did not cover the repair of the sunroof and we had to go through our insurance ($500 dedutible). After we got the car home, we discovered glass on the back floor boards and seats. Also, it was not cleaned up where they worked-greasy prints around the area of the sunroof. We noticed a stain on the cover of sunroof (hope it's not a water stain). I called the service manager and we are waiting for him to call back.
Update from Jun 14, 2019: Today, June 14, 2019, we talked to Robinson Bros. and they said to bring the car in and they would clean it up. They did, they detailed it inside and cleaned the outside. They were very nice and apologized for the way it was left after fixing the sunroof.
