For a brand new car costing close to 30k, I was suprised the transmission started to go out so early. Less than 4 years old and right at 61k miles. My extended warranty is out and Ford dealerships want me to pay $180 for the initial diagnostics then an additional $800 for transmission tear down to see what exactly is wrong with it.
I contacted Ford support and they want me to spend the $980 + taxes and fees before they make any commitment to help. I escalated to the manager and they recommended for me to file a complaint with BBB for auto so I started that today. I am praying that Ford will cover their manufacturing mistake and pay for the diagnostics and full repair... If you are looking at buying a used one, move along unless the trans was rebuilt.
