A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

I experienced a very dangerous incident happened at the night of 3/29/2020 on Mass Pike (I-90 east bound).

I drove a Ford Escape (2018, mileage is just over 30k) on the Pike with cruise control on and set at 65 m/p. It was raining badly. I held the steering wheel firmly with 2 hands and focused on the road very carefully as a CD was being played. I was driving in the middle of 3 lanes. Suddenly I felt the steering wheel was forced to make a sharp turn to the left side and the car was into the left lane, I turned the steering wheel to the right immediately and my car went to the rightmost lane after that, I have to try very hard to keep my car back to normal position. At same time, the information on the Sync3 screen in my car kept changing and landed on the Setting page. It happened so fast that the car swung across 3 lanes within seconds.

I didn’t remember how and when the cruise control was disabled, but it did when the car backed to normal, I noticed the speed was dropped to around 50 m/p. I was so lucky there were no cars around me when the incident happened due to the recent circumstance on the road. A moment later, I paused the CD player and kept driving without cruise control. Several minutes later, the CD started to play by itself.

I was shocked and saw a car passed by me several minutes later on the leftmost lane. Luckily, I felt okay after calming down and the car ran ok as well I think.

I kept driving about 40 more minutes to get home without using cruise control anymore and with the speed around 50 m/p.

Next day, I brought my car to a dealer, the response from them is ‘Test drive could not duplicate issue, check for any codes with IDs, none found’ after they kept my car for 24 hours.

I think it is supposed to be hard to duplicate this kind of dangerous scenario by cars’ design; otherwise it wouldn’t be safe on the road. I just want to ask if anyone else had same or similar experiences before or any comments.
