check engine light, coolant leaking into cylinder 2 check engine light, coolant leaking into cylinder 2 check engine light, coolant leaking into cylinder 2

I purchased this 2018 Ford Escape and while still making payments to the finance company and after only having the vehicle for a year and having all the regular maintenance done too it my check engine light started coming on. I took it to AutoZone to have a diagnosed and it was a spark plug issue. I took it to my mechanic to have it fixed. He immediately called me and told me that it was something he would not touch and he thinks I need to take it to the dealership because it's something pretty serious. I made an appointment to take it to the Ford dealership the following week. Before I could do that on my way home from work my car. I'm sorry my SUV immediately started overheating just as I left work out of nowhere. I had to call a tow truck which I couldn't understand why my car went overheat and the winter time and I just left work I had plenty of coolant in my car I always check my fluids and like I said I get regular maintenance done.

I had it towed to the dealership. To my surprise the dealership contacted me and told me that there was coolant that had leaked into my engine and it was something that was some type of coolant intrusion leak and because of that I had to get a short engine block replace long story short I basically needed a new engine and the cost would basically run me more than or close to what I owed on my car. I purchased an extended warranty and of course the warranty did not cover anything that had to do with an engine. As I did research on my Ford this was apparently a known issue with my vehicle I tried contacting the consumer Department with Ford for assistance they would not help me I tried contacting the national transportation board to make a complaint. I contacted the Attorney General's office. I tried reaching out to all Ford members that I could locate via online research to let them know of the issue and to try to get this resolved as a consumer who was unaware of this issue and no one was willing to help me. I tried reporting this to my finance company which of course I know it's not their problem all they care about is their money but I want to make them aware of this issue and that they are financing Vehicles when there is a known engine problem.

I tried going on to social media with Ford accounts and there were countless stories of the same issue consumer complaints there were all types of lawsuits but nothing with my vehicle my particular vehicle was not included in those lawsuits I was just outside of the mileage and I couldn't get anyone to help me and as a single mother who's putting my last child through college I couldn't come up with the money to pay to get the work done on my vehicle and still make the finance payments of which I had never missed a payment on my car and it was so frustrating making call after call reaching out online trying to get assistance and no one was willing to help me to resolve this issue when Ford was very well aware of this problem and they are still not willing to help me. So I have been reaching out to any and every possible entity and still have been unable to get any assistance when this is due to no fault of my own.

Escape Titanium 2.0L Ecoboost

  • Automatic transmission
  • 53,481 miles

I bought this 2018 Ford Escape Titanium 2.0L eco boost used with 22,500 miles in November 2020. Vehicle had one previous owner and no other issues prior. In October 2022, my Ford Escape’s check engine light came on and the reading was cylinder 2 misfire. I schedule an appointment with a Ford dealership in town, and they found a coolant leak into cylinder two which required a full engine replacement at 53,418 miles. I find that a full engine replacement at 53,000 miles is absolutely ridiculous and I am very disappointed that Ford has not addressed this issue as I see on this website that many other Ford vehicles with the same engine have had this problem, including three close family members/friends vehicles. Luckily, my car was covered under extended warranty, so I did not have to pay anything out of pocket. However, if this issue were to reoccur at another 53,000 miles, my car would not be covered under warranty anymore and I would have to pay out-of-pocket. I wish I would’ve found this website sooner, and I likely would not have bought this car.

Update - As of May 2024, my Ford Escape currently has 75,000 miles (25,000 on the new engine) and I have not had any other engine issues thus far.
