There were two separate incidents where the Michelin factory tires on my 2017 Ford Escape had sidewall blowouts. This occurred both times while driving very slowly (5-10 MPH) on a good condition gravel road.
I never had any tire problems with my old 2009 Ford Escape, which I regularly drove on the same gravel road. I strongly believe that this problem is caused by Ford's decision to reduce the size of the tires of the Ford Escape (my old 2009 had 235/70R16 tires while my new 2017 has 235/55R17).
