excessive rust undercarriage-spindle/knuckle

2016 Escape with Sever and Excessive Rust - Purchased new on 6/2/16 - On Wednesday 6/8/16-Showed rust to salesman- he said “they’re all like that” I said “no, I purchased new and rust is not new”, he said look and pointed to a few other vehicles, said it was just surface rust on the rotors, I said “no, this is not from the rotors this part is behind the rotors just behind the wheel and when it rained I had rusty water rolling over my wheels, rotors, wheel bearings and several other items that rusty water would damage and I wanted it fixed”. I said “I didn’t pay for surface rust for a vehicle that sat on their lot for a year, I paid for new and I wanted it fixed. He said it had not been there a year and we would tell them about it in service. Took me over to service. Told the service writer (Mike?) and he said “oh all rotors are like that and when it is driven the rust will wear off”. I told him this was not the rotors this was a part behind the rotors and wheels and it looked like this part connected to all of my suspension (I did not know at the time the name of the part). I took him out to look at it. He said that he would have them look at it, I also told him that the hands-free lift gate feature was not working, he said it was probably because of the tow hitch, I told him I paid for the power lift gate, he said he would have them look at it, we went back inside and I was pretty sure I saw him write it on the service order.

rusting

2016 Escape purchased at Sarat Ford on 06/02/16- Continued rust issue 2:00pm – Arrived at Sarat Ford- letter not ready- made me wait in his office while he went to look for my Kia tags paperwork and when he came back he said he was having them clean the Escape up for me because it had pollen on it. He showed me a copy of his response from Ford, I asked him about why he was not going to give me my money back like he said on Saturday and he said that it was because when he told me that he did not realize there were excessive miles- (2,417) he thought there was only 50 miles (which is what was on the service order- which means they never even read the mileage). I did not even ask why he didn’t just prorate the miles that they would be done under the Lemon Law- at this point I know this man is a liar and thief and nothing he says is legitimate. Letter he wrote did not state safety asked him to add, did not state reason, he was not going to refund my money like he said on Saturday 06/11/16, asked him to add. Date for the warranty of parts (which did not include the ones I photographed on Saturday- no mention of exhaust, muffler, drive shaft, shocks) was the date of purchase, had him change. Got letter and was so disgusted with the way I was treated just walked out. Went towards service expecting to see my Escape- saw a similar Escape looked under it and took pictures, did not see my Escape – but spotted my 2003 Kia, 2002 Chevy and Ford Truck trade-ins- went over took a look under my Kia and guess what- my 13 year old Kia had less rust than my Brand New 2016 Escape- unbelievable! Marched back in and told Jeff Sarat I wanted to purchase my trades back at the same amount I was given for them - $1,000.00 each, he said he would have to check to make sure they were not sold or promised to someone and that the Harley was already at a broker- I said I would take the ones here and would pay to have them towed back to my house. He told me to give him a few minutes, I told him I did not see my Escape and he said it was pulled to the front – went out to the Escape. Glenn Bovino salesman came out to the Escape and asked wasn’t I going to come say hi to him and I said no and he asked why and I told him because he did not get my rusty parts fixed liked he said he would. He said they all come like that and I said "Bull" – I went and looked under every Suv in this class, crawled underneath them and not one of them had rust on the spindles other than Ford Escapes, he said it’s just surface rust and I said Rust spreads and it doesn’t matter if it is surface rust or not this vehicle is unsafe and will rust completely out. He said this part is made out of steel and I told him that my husband was a senior manufacturing engineer and process engineer and had 37 years in metal of all kinds and while I was not the expert he was I KNOW there are processes to coat those parts to prevent rust from happening and I knew that because while I did not understand everything he told me I did KNOW THAT! I told him that I was waiting for Jeff Sarat to come talk to me about getting my trades back, because I felt safer in my 13 year old Kia that I just climbed under and had less rust that this piece of junk. Note: I gave them at least 2 different options I know for removing rust- 1) sand, prime, paint or 2) aftermarket rust solutions that will remove rust with a scrub brush, prime and paint. And early enough- these solutions can work - but once rust starts spreading (and all rust does) you can not stop it from rotting your whole vehicle away. Just ask the owners of the 2005 Escape or check out the NHTSA and read some of those rust horror stories. Anyone that tells you surface rust will not spread does not know about rust- or works for Ford-rust is cancer to a car period, it is going to spread. I have since done extensive research on rust and it does not matter how little it is - eventually it is going to rust through parts- there is no way of telling how long because different metals/steel rust at different rates depending on the conditions. But in this case, the surface rust began when snow and salt was pushed under this vehicle on the dealers lot from the time it was delivered to them until late April when the snow began to melt. More than likely, when the parking lot was plowed the mixture of snow and salt was pushed under this vehicle- causing this rust. One thing I do know for sure is in JUNE when I purchased this vehicle there was not any snow or ice the 24.5 miles from this dealership to my house!!!

Update from Nov 15, 2016: To: Josh O. who has commented twice on my rust situation: Last email- "This has never been a safety issue nor will it ever be. This is on nearly every ford and this surface rust will not penetrate past what you see from day one. Stop trying to make this a big deal and walk away."

I didn't bother to save your first email

You do not know what you are talking about see Ford Escape 2005 on this site Read the Toyota recall dated November 12, 2016 on this site http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/winter-road-salt-necessary-but/22699332#.WCTPYMm_P8c.mailto These are only a few of the sources there are 1,000's more

You are right about one thing....Rust it is normal on "FORD" vehicles and if you want to own the junk - that's up to you ...but I do not and intend to and will continuing to fight and file for lemon law with my substantial proof of over 50 articles and experts that say surface rust like all rust ....Spreads and effects your entire vehicle.

Please do not email me with your nasty comments- This vehicle has been a big enough pain in my butt!
