Almost as soon as I took this car home (brand new - purchased at dealership), the brakes were annoyingly squeaky. I complained several times, and took it in. Only once did they do anything to fix it - 5/5/16 they resurfaced the brake pads and rotors. Took in again for squeaky brakes on 2/23/17 - nothing done. On 4/1/19 I took it in for brakes losing function while driving. They also made a horrible blaring noise. The service department could not duplicate the issue.
It has happened several times since, but not on a regular basis.
Last night was the worst of all - 10/18/2022. I was away from home and had to drive and stop several times before getting home. I could feel the brakes seize up. I had to drive very slowly and practically stand up on the brakes to get the car stopped. It was very frightening, and lasted a very scary 45 minutes before they started working correctly again. The first few times this happened I was able to manually move the brake pedal up and down with my hand to loosen it up again, but that didn't work last night.
I called the dealership today and was told to bring it in and they'd drive it and try to duplicate the issue. Since the issue is infrequent that's a waste of time and resources - they do not provide a loaner and I could be without the use of the vehicle for months before it happens again. If they don't experience it, it didn't really happen, right? I called Ford Customer Service and got a case number, which is CAS39180084. I see there is a similar complaint on a 2016 and some newer models on this page. It also sounds exactly like the recall of 2016 Expeditions with Ecoboost. Why won't they check that out?
