The right windshield wiper has on at least 3 separate occasions just snapped off the arm. I've taken my car to the dealership three times and had to purchase factory manufactured wipers. The most recent snap off was Wednesday, August 28 while I was driving on the Garden State Parkway in the rain. Had to pull over to take the snapped off wiper off the hood of the car and then drove directly to the dealership.
One of the techs checked it out and feels that it is a wiper linkage issue. Since the car is out of warranty, but this is an ongoing issue, my dealer rep suggested I reach out to Ford to see if there is something that can be done to fix this situation. I decided to check here to see if anyone else is having the same or a similar problem with their wipers. After the first snap off, when the arm was put back in place on the windshield, it created a huge spider crack which is continuing to move, slowly, but getting bigger nonetheless. After the snap off this week, there are some scratches on the passenger side of the car because I had to use the wipers to be able to drive in the rain, but there was no wiper on the right side. Additionally, the wipers have, on a couple of occasions, just started by themselves when I turn on the engine. Also, when I turn off the wipers, they seem to reposition themselves so they are not in their original position, ie left over right or vice versa.
Before I replace the windshield, I'd like to make sure the wiper situation is taken care of.
