After my transmission failed at 64,070 miles and was replaced with a new ford transmission I was furious, but I thought I wouldn’t have to deal with it again..... I was so wrong... I didn’t even make it 200 miles on the new transmission before it started making a loud whining sound when driving over 20 mph. I drove back to have the car looked at. I thought it was probably something small since it felt like it was driving okay, but I was wrong I just got a call back and was told the transmission needs a rebuild.... I should not be replacing my transmission more than I change my oil! This is crazy! Ford needs to do something about this!

Well, here I am again. It's not even been six months since I had my transmission rebuilt. It's doing it again, tachometer going up speedometer going down. This car is a piece of crap. I have took care of this car, all of the oil changes( $100 a pop), new rotors,new brakes, new tires, new air filter. I shouldn't have to replace this transmission again, I shouldn't have to fix it to begin with. It was a new car and this is why I bought a new car. This is bull crap. I have another Ford Escape and it's a 2005 model with 190000 miles on it, and guess what, it's transmission never messed up. It's still running and will actually do what I tell it to do. Someone needs to do something about this. Ford needs to step up and acknowledge the fact that this is a defect and issue a recall before someone gets hurts or looses a life over their faulty transmission. Step up.

This car is only 4 years old! I can't believe I have to replace the transmission. After reading the other complaints, Ford needs to issue a recall on these transmissions and replace them for free. I'm still making payments on my car. Now I have a $5,000 loan to replace the transmission. I was driving home from work and without warning the "Transmission Fault' light came on and the car wouldn't move. I am waiting for Ford to complete the repairs. They better have at least a 3 year warranty on the new transmission. I searched on line for contact information for Ford. All I found was a mailing address. It said you must contact them in writing. Does anyone know of a phone number to call?

I bought this car brand new and when this happened I had no clue what was going on. It's as if my car went on strike. My tachometer shot up passed 4 on it's own and my speedometer was going down. Not a single warning light came on, no check engine light, no low fluid light and no high temperature light came on, nothing. I was giving it gas and it wouldn't move. I broke down on interstate.

I had it towed to the Ford dealership where I purchased it from. They checked it out and I was told by the mechanic that the transmission has no transmission fluid in it and it was also full of metal shavings inside of the transmission. So I told them that it has to be a defect and should be a recall since Ford decided to take the dipstick away and I had no access to check it and the on board computer also failed to alert me of a problem. As far as the metal shavings go they couldn't and wouldn't tell me how they got in there, they said it just happens sometimes.

Well I said that this was bullshit, that if it's internally which they was, then it come from internally, which sh*t shouldn't fall off internally which in my eyes is a manufactures defect and a recall should be issued. Naturally they denied that claim. They recommended replacing the transmission for $4200 and I told them" why would I put the same transmission that just messed up on me back in it, do I look stupid to you or something? So I told them I was having the car picked up and fixed elsewhere. Well they didn't like that but too bad. Had transmission rebuilt by certified transmission technician and picked it up beginning of December 2017.

The other half of the story I posted as complaint #2( yes, same thing)

My wife was driving the car on highway when suddenly it stopped going, engine running fine but car would not go. Luckily she was able to pull over safely into a parking lot. The car would not go forward or reverse. Engine would rev up like the transmission was in neutral.

I had the car towed to the Ford dealership where I bought the car. They found that the transmission fluid was very dark (burnt) and there were metal shavings in transmission. It was recommended to replace transmission with rebuilt one for $6182.06. I bought the car new and it had 74076 miles on it. A transmission should last a lot longer than 4 years and 74000 miles. I decided not to have it fixed but get rid of it and buy a new car (not a Ford this time).

The Escape had been running fine, then one day out of the blue, we are getting on to the highway, and the RPMs rev up to 5K, then go back to normal, then it does it again. We merge on to the highway and all seems fine, until we get off the highway and get to red stop light. Once the light turns green, we try to go, and the car does not want to move. It slowly starts to move like it is stuck in a high gear, but you never hear the car shift from one gear to the other. We are able to get the car back home and we called the dealership. They came and had it towed to the shop, and a week later they say they check the transmission and the fluid was black and there are metal shaving in it and the transmission will need to be replaced. Since we are 223 miles over the warranty, we are hoping that Ford will help us out with the cost of a new transmission....no deal. They denied the warranty claim, told us there was nothing they could do, and it would cost $5,600 to get it repaired. We need the car so we need to figure out what to do, and the car is still in the shop. We were told by the dealership that they had never heard of anything like this, but after reading other post on this site, it looks like this is a common problem with the 2014 Ford Escapes.

I brought this 2014 Ford Escape in Feb 2017 and by September it was broke down. Ford needs to add the 2014- Escape to their recall/class action lawsuit. This transmission and this car is a safety issue. This car gave no warnings that there was a problem, it just made a loud noise and stopped as I was getting onto the freeway. I could have been seriously injured and in a terrible accident. I bought this car for 14,995.00 and still owe almost 15,000.00 on a car that is sitting in my drive. Ford refuses to help and the dealer has declined to help. I am a mother of small babies who travel with me often and a safe car is a must.This car will need over $6,000.00 in repairs, which is clear I cannot and should have to pay for considering this car was just bought and in basically new condition. This car needs major repairs as the transmission is bad, braking system, and battery. I spoke with several mechanics who confirmed that this issues should have been caught doing inspection.

Ford needs to take all these cars off of the road before someone gets seriously hurt or dies.

I bought my Escape in December of 2015 with 24,000 miles on it. At 29,000 miles, the transmission stopped working completely; it would engage in reverse, but not in drive.

I took it to a local dealership in Cincinnati, and per Ford's instructions, they took the transmission apart, replaced a few parts, and cleaned out metal shavings. In July of 2017, at 69,000 miles, the exact same transmission problem surfaced; this time, I had to replace the transmission at a cost of $5,100 as it was no longer under warranty.

Neither of the dealerships or Ford will reimburse any of the cost, even though it is the same problem which should have been fixed under warranty last year!!!

I will never buy a Ford product again, and am interested to know if there is a class action for the Escape like there was for the Fiesta and the Focus!

Transmission fails as if it shifted into neutral leaving you coasting through intersections. Also shudders on initial take off. Fails often when accelerating and then seems to jump into gear. Dealer replaced several parts, kept the car for four days (no loaner). I got out of the parking lot took a left and it failed again as if it shifted into neutral. Although this model has the manual shifting capability. I never use it. Took it back. they test drove it, couldn't duplicate the problem stating this transmission needs to get used to your driving habits.

The following day, failed again I coasted through the intersection on a left turn, then it popped into gear and went. Now I have to take it back again and I guess wait for it to fail for them. So frustrating.

Bought out lease on my 2014 Ford Escape, Front wheel drive 42,000 miles. There was no forewarning of any issue with the transmission. One day I was driving on a fairly busy street and I could no longer accelerate. My transmission fluid gushed out within a matter of a few minutes. Had to sit with my car and wait for 2 hours for a tow. The repair would have cost me upwards of $4,000 if it was past my 60,000 mile warranty. Took almost 2 weeks to repair.

This is far too new for a vehicle to have sudden and catastrophic transmission failure. Will probably end up selling the vehicle. It was fun while it lasted, but I don't think I can trust Ford again with my hard earned money.

Wife was driving on the GSP and the transmission went into limp mode and eventually stopped working all together. Mechanic said that the transmission went due to the transmission over heating. We thought it was strange that we never received a warning due to the car overheating. A week later we received a recall letter from Ford saying that there is an issue with localized heating and the part will not be available till after Q4 and its the customers responsibility to be extra vigilant with the vehicles heating to prevent damage. I complained to Ford and they said that they are not responsible for damages caused by the faulty part. They are only willing to replace the part when it finally becomes available in Q4. I or anyone in my family will never buy another Ford again.

Not sure where to start with this one. Brand new 2014 Escape SE purchased from Fairway Ford in Greenville, South Carolina in July 2013. Regularly serviced according to the owner's manual (at the dealership when possible).

Fast forward 3 years and 1 month and I'm stuck in the middle of the road with my engine revving and my emergency flashers on. Got a tow to the dealership and a few hours later, "you have metal all in your transmission fluid. you need a new one. That'll be $4400." It was like talking to the doctor after someone you love dies at the hospital.

Ford MoCo won't cover anything, my aftermarket warranty expired 2, yes two, thousand miles ago (for me that's maybe 3 weeks ago).

Am I wrong or is that awfully fast for a transmission to crap out? Sucks....in a bad way.

(2014 Ford Escape - Titanium) I was driving to work one morning, on a known heavily traffic area to work. The normal speed is 60mph, but drivers are known to go 70 mph. It was stop and go traffic, I had been driving for almost 50 miles, when all of a sudden my vehicle decided to stop accelerating. It felt as if my vehicle went into Neutral, when I was still in Drive. RPM's were showing, my car was still running and in gear (Drive), no clunking, jumping or knocking...and no warning lights (engine, transmission, battery, nothing was showing up in my car). I was able to go in reverse, same issue happens after about 100 ft., and my car hasn't changed in fuel consumption. I also had no other problems EVER occur within my vehicle. No previous issues, but my vehicle just lost all acceleration

I took it to a Ford Dealership, because I had to make sure it wasn't a recall causing this issue. They fixed my out of date recalls (2-Seat belts and door handles) for FREE, but told me my transmission went out. For a transmission to go out, on a basically brand new vehicle at 100,000 miles is not OK, with no previous issues every occurring. I have never heard of a transmission going out, out of the blue, trans take time to go out and show numerous signs before they die. The dealership came to "We THINK the filter in the transmission was clogged from shavings within the transmission, which burnt up your gears." Obviously, I am getting a second opinion, I don't go by "I THINK" and I don't appreciate a FORD mechanic telling me this kind of thing JUST HAPPENS in a major part of a vehicle.

Ford this isn't safe, and for a TITANIUM version, there should be some sort of check light illuminated to tell the driver what is happening, something is happening, anything to tell the driver to stop driving. This isn't safe, it isn't something to strive for in a Dealership, and this definitely needs to be handled.

Called Ford just gave me a case # said take it to the dealer. Dealer said it will be 85 hr for no less than 8 hour to tear down the tranny if the tranny is Ford problem they will pay have of parts only!! half of parts only? Wow at 85 hour can you not pay labor too..

I hate Ford now.. My brothers own their own business and have fleet of Ford truck and wives Flex. I will not borrow money from my family to fix this its not their problem. However starting next month they will NEVER lease Fords or use them as company rep trucks. They are moving on and trading for Chevys.. Me to .. Equinox her I come.. F*ck you Ford and the horse you rode in on for such quality customer service..

the owners manual states the transmission fluid should be changed every 48000 by the dealer ship, there isn't even a dip stick to check the fluid. When we contact them and asked when they had the transmission apart last year if the fluid was replaced they said no they would have just put the same fluid back in the vehicle that they took out, but the fluid had had shavings in it from the transmission? But yet they put it back in the car. Never told anyone. Here we think it has new fluid, seeing it had shaving in it, and they had it all took down. Now they say it will cost 2,800.00 to fix.
