CarComplaints.com Notes: The top problem trend for the 2014 Escape is transmission failure at around 70k miles.
This is relatively low mileage for an expensive transmission failure ($4,500 average to fix), but unless the trend becomes more established, we are only awarding the 2014 Escape our "Beware of the Clunker" badge for now.

I purchased a 2014 2.0L Ford Escape Titanium in November 2016 with only 26,000 miles. Primarily purchased for commuting round trip average per day of 50 miles. Car is rated to get 20 to 32 MPG. Well I don't get anything near that. Since I drove it off the lot it's been averaging 18.1 MPG. My wife and I drove up North to visit family driving on the freeway of 101Hwy and still gas mileage did not improve. The car interior and exterior is simply beautiful. But the gas mileage is awful. Does anyone out there know how to improve gas mileage? I kinda wish I would of bought a Hyundai Tucson.
