This is relatively low mileage for an expensive transmission failure ($4,500 average to fix), but unless the trend becomes more established, we are only awarding the 2014 Escape our "Beware of the Clunker" badge for now.

The exhaust pipe is one piece with no joints. Front muffler rusted and cracked open at top joint/seam. Dealer quote is $875.00 from Resonator on back. Local muffler shop confirmed front muffler failure and could not weld a patch and quoted $750. This car only has 54,850 miles and is a garage-kept grocery getter.
