CarComplaints.com Notes: The top problem trend for the 2014 Escape is transmission failure at around 70k miles.

This is relatively low mileage for an expensive transmission failure ($4,500 average to fix), but unless the trend becomes more established, we are only awarding the 2014 Escape our "Beware of the Clunker" badge for now.

Was stopped at a red light, first in line in left lane. Two lanes each direction crossing in front. Car surged a couple of feet but was able to stop. Five seconds later car surged again very fast. My vehicle collided with another & left fender and axle was broken. Unable to steer my car went to the right curb and stopped. My wife & I were not hurt but could have been killed or seriously injured or others.
