CarComplaints.com Notes: The top problem trend for the 2014 Escape is transmission failure at around 70k miles.
This is relatively low mileage for an expensive transmission failure ($4,500 average to fix), but unless the trend becomes more established, we are only awarding the 2014 Escape our "Beware of the Clunker" badge for now.
Paint fading, and clear coat flaking off on roof. It started at front and rear in 2 foot square patch, but now there are similar patches in the middle of the roof. Detailed inspection showed beginning of same problem on leading edge of the hood and on the left rear door by the window, plus many other small areas. This makes the car unsaleable, it looks terrible, and Ford Dealer last October said "Sorry, I can't do anything for you". Unless there is some resolution when I go in this week, I will be saying "Sorry Ford, I'm buying from some other car company". Its not because of the failure, but the lack of response to fix it.
I did purchase my escape brand new. As I noticed the paint bubbling along the bottom door edges I just found out that a person who works for the Ford motor company told his supervisor about the paint being applied to thin. The supervisor told the worker to not say anything.
Since we, the consumers pay the prices for new cars I would think a car company would want to keep the customer happy, but, in this day and age it's all about cheap workmanship, lack of responsibility to correct problems. Since Ford will not cover the cost to repair the problem I'll have to switch companies.
