I didn't notice the issue until I drove over my usual 30 minute drive. The AC was starting to completely shut down. When it first happened air was still very slowly coming out, then barely at all. Made for a very hot drive back home. But the next day it was fine.

The second time it happened was just today, driving back from VA (over a 5.5 hour drive). I went to turn on the AC, because the sun had come up, and nothing was coming out. I could hear the air pressure getting louder somewhere in the car, but absolutely no air was coming out of the vents. I tried pointing it in different directions, no change. I stopped to eat, came back out about 20 minutes later, worked for about 10 minutes then did it again. Drove 2.5 hours with no AC in 85 degree weather. VERY FRUSTRATING!!

This is first Ford vehicle I've owned. It's only 2 years old and 15K out of warranty. A $1000 repair for a new compressor to be needed is the reason I'll never buy Ford again! They will not get anymore money from me, I'll sweat it out this summer before giving them another dime! The next payment will be the hardest to make! I emailed Ford with no response. Buyers Beware!

Update from Jan 24, 2017: After market compressors are on back order due to high volume of O.E.M. compressors failing. Ford has not changed the part so if you buy O.E.M. you are going to get same result, failure within 2 years!

I have a 2014 Ford Escape for a company car, there are several other employees with 2013 and 2014 Escapes and I know at least 8 others who have the same issue with their Escape. If you drive the car for two or three hours or longer is when it happens. Something freezes up and causes the A/C not to blow, you can still hear the unit running but nothing is coming out of the vents. You have to turn it off and shut off the vehicle for about 15 minutes, then turn it back on and it will last for 30-60 minutes until it happens again. I have taken it to two Ford dealers, neither fixed the problem. I seen a video on youtube that explains why its happening and how to fix it. I have an appt with Ford this week and I am going to show them the video.

2nd time AC failed in less than a month!!!!!!!! Was tested in July when original problem occurred, dye put in to system, black light check 2 weeks later and no leak found. Was topped up with Freon as first excuse was possibly low on freon from factory...was check the other day and found after having the vehicle all day that the evaporator was defective - part is now on order however it is backordered in the US...topped again with freon to keep it working and will replace part when it comes in several weeks from now!!!!!! New vehicle should not have any issues!!!!!!!!!!!!
