Broken Cooling System Adapter
2013 Ford Escape
This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Ford dealer.
CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Ford Escape has been in the news quite a bit and for all the wrong reasons. Within a few months of its release the SUV was recalled three times, twice because of engine fires.
In July 2012, due to a fuel line that could split and leak, Ford told owners to park their cars because even driving to the dealership for repairs was deemed too dangerous. Instead, in a somewhat unprecedented move, Ford sent tow trucks to pick up the affected vehicles and handed out rental cars while the owners waited for repairs.
A few months later the Escape was recalled again because antifreeze could leak out onto the engine due to a freeze plug becoming dislodged. As the coolant hit the hot engine there was, once again, a threat for fire.
The 2013 is the first model year of the Escape's 3rd generation and proves once again that you want to avoid the first model year when at all possible.

Bought the 2013 ford escape and went on vacation. The car broke down while on vacation, we brought it to a ford dealership and and they told us the part (adapter) was not available locally that they would get it in through fed ex in a few days. Two days later they said it would be another week or two. We rented a car to get home as we had already stayed an additional few days because of the unknown as when they could get the part.
When we got home we were informed through a representative at the Ford Relations Department the part would be a month away coming from Germany. They only want to pay three day of lodging and the car rental to come home. No food expenses, lost wages etc.
It is now a month later and the part finally came in but it is the wrong part (GO FIGURE!!) So our car is still out of state and don't know when the part will come in.
We are paying a monthly payment for a vehicle we do not have, Ford does not seem to GIVE 100% customer satisfacation as stated on their web site. REALLY DISAPPOINTED AND WILL NOT BUY FROM THEM AGAIN!!!
We asked for a replacement and they said no, that will not happen.
