CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Ford Escape has an acceptable complaint history so far, with leaking rear window problems showing up as the main concern so far. NHTSA complaint data shows an early pattern of problems with stalling while driving.

Another concern is the 2012 Escape rolled onto its roof during an NHTSA side impact test so it only received a marginal side impact rating ... not good.

Safety recall notice 16S41: The Ford dealership does not have the part to fix this recall. It has been two months since I received the notice. I've called to ask if they have the part yet, and they don't even know when the parts might come in. Our particular dealership has employees who are very annoyed at customers who are calling. Minutes ago, I was told "people keep calling and asking. We don't know." Ford's incompetence is astounding.

Extremely dangerous!! this vehicle will, without warning, lose power. The engine does not shutdown, but it loses power as minimal fuel is getting to engine. Steering not lost, electrical systems seem ok, but no response when stepping on accelerator. This has happened numerous, random times without warning or regard to any conditions I can determine (weather, speed, amount of fuel in the tank, traffic conditions). This issue has happened at highway speeds where you somehow have to steer car out of the way of traffic going 60+ mph! this could cause a huge accident and even lead to some deaths - it is very unnerving! the issue also happens at other times, non-highway driving, sometimes when stopped at a traffic signal, even just pulling out of the driveway! it is random and without warning. It is extremely dangerous to the occupants of this vehicle and any vehicle that may wreck into it due to this issue. When it does happen, the wrench light illuminates, but there is no response from the accelerator. Thus far, if the vehicle is put in park, turned off, then restarted, it usually restarts - until the next random time it occurs. It seems to be related to the throttle body or something in that path. There is space for only one occurrence of this, but this issue has occurred at least 20 times in the last 4 weeks. Mechanic cannot find any codes in the archive, so they can't fix it. One other thing, the vehicle will sometimes unexpectedly surge when accelerating.

I received a letter from Ford Motor Company with my VIN #, make and model of vehicle that may develop a crack in the fuel supply tank. I call the nearest Ford dealer today and the receptionist said they don't have the part and I would have to wait until I get a post card from Ford Motor Company. This isn't the first time, now I'm writing a complaint. I would like to have this checked out or replaced asap. God forbid anything should happen. Make this right!

On two separate occasions, my 2012 Ford Escape has completely shut off on me while driving at about 40 mph. I had to coast to the side of the road, one time on a side road and the other on a highway while trying to accelerate, and then turn the car off and back on again. Both times that seemed to correct the problem. This is an extremely dangerous defect that seems to have been reported by many other 2012 Escape owners on forums/blogs.

The fuel delivery module has been recalled on my vehicle. I have called my Ford dealership many times to have the part replaced. I have again called multiple times since then and there state that they do not have the part.

Driving and car went into power failure mode and wrench displayed on dash display. Found paperwork about throttle body safety recall. Decided to have safety recall 16S41 fuel module done also since it was going in for work. On Sept 5, 2017 took to keystone Ford chambersburg 717-264-5104. After both repairs done I was starting car to leave- had very long crank time. Had service person come out to hear and he said" sounds like your starters going bad". left Ford and car continued with long crank times- never had this problem before they worked on it. Took back on Sept 8,2017- they found nothing but said I needed new fuel pump $700. I complained because they had worked on the fuel pump and then it went bad!! clayton black offered me to do the fiel pump for $509 and no cost for labor. Also if not fixed don't have to pay for work done. Went to parson's interstate Ford shippensburg for 2nd opinion. They said they could do the fuel pump for $474 which included labor! when parson's removed the fuel pump they said a ring was loose and would have eventually leaked gas- would have been dangerous. Keystone didn't have it on correctly! I want keystone to pay for the fuel pump repair they caused the damage to- $499.
