Not happy about this! We were on a weekend camping trip and upon arriving at the camp ground found the window to my wife's truck literally hanging from one hinge. The other one had completely crumbled and rotted away. We duct taped the window to the back hatch so as we could make the trip back home with a margin of safety. As others have pointed out, Ford is well aware of this issue and yet does NOTHING about it. Pretty disappointing is an understatement! Currently looking at options. The best seems to be a self serve car parts yard. Wish us luck!
I never thought that this would be a problem .I want it replace at no cost if Ford already knew it was issue and did not come with a better way for rear window hinge replacement. I always own Ford vehicles and I should not pay for something that I should have not to be replace for cheap material that should crumble ,corroded from rear window hinges . And I do not even use or open the rear window unless to clean it. I always lift the tailgate when I go grocery shopping.
I HAVE BEEN HAPPY WITH MY ESCAPE. BUT WHEN I PULLED UP TO THE STORE THE OTHER DAY AND MY WINDOW WAS HANGING OFF THE BACK OF MY TRUCK I WAS NOT HAPPY. WE WERE PLANNING A TRIP AND WHAT IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY NOT A GOOD THING. I FELL FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS HINGE ON THE BACK WINDOW THIS IS A SAFTEY ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL THIS IS A LIABILITY TO THE FORD COMPANY.THAT HINGE JUST CRUMBLED AND THE OTHER ONE IS READY TO GO. WE JUST WENT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN FORT FANCES FOR A FULL SERVICE AND NOTHING WAS EVEN MENTIONED THAT THE HINDGES WERE A PROBLEM WITH THIS VECHICLE. THIS CANNOT BE THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED . THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WE ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THIS DEFECT. A FORD WILL NOT BE IN MY DRIVEWAY IF THIS IS NOT DEALT WITH. D.G.ANDREWS
rear window hinge covering peeled off hinge crumbled
Loyal Ford client since first F150 purchased in 1975. Always had Ford trucks, Escapes in family, currently 5 Ford vehicals in the family. Very disappoint in a 5 year SUV having this happen. We do not use window hatch always use full tailgate lift.
Dealer willing to have me pay, I had to ask them about loyalty consideration as we have purchased 3 new vehicles from 2010-2015 at same dealership. They are now looking into this for me.
