THE PAINT HAS PEELED OFF OF MY CAR!!!!! BEWARE OF FORD!!!! I took my car to the car wash as I often do and as I was washing the front of my car the paint just peeled off. It looked like an apple skin (but black), very thin and flimsy. I was shocked. No way a three year old car should have paint peeling from it like that. Now it's only going to get worse. It's going to keep peeling and it's going to start to rust. The next day I went to the Ford body shop and before he even bent down to look at the peeling he said it's not covered. He barely looked at it!! He said rocks have chipped at it and moisture got in crack and caused paint to peel. First of all. If I went and looked at 20 other Ford Escapes I bet none of them have paint peel from rocks. Not to mention I don't live on a gravel road I don't follow too closely behind other vehicles. I can see there being rocks from behind my tires, but not on front bumper. If this is normal every car should have paint peeling from the front of their car... EVERY CAR!, not just a few. I also have a 1997 vehicle and none of the paint is missing from that and it's 16 years old. Anyways back to body shop guy... So he acted like he wasn't even interested in helping me. He told me on the phone (before I went in) that he would have to take pictures and send to ford for approval. When I went in he was like nope they won't cover it and left it at that. I told him to get his camera, take pictures, and send the report Ford. I want this incident put on file. After I left the Ford body shop I called Ford Customer service and reported my problem to them. At the time I spoke with them my report had not yet been filed, but she said that since you are 9,000 miles over your warranty that there is probably nothing we can do for you. Talk about horrible customer service. I will mention that I bought the extended warranty and of course it's not covered under that either. You would think they would want vehicles with their logo on them to look nice and want to promote their product. I will say that if a product is defective no matter the warranty or recall the item should always be replaced at no cost by the company. If they did it right the first time we wouldn't be having a problem with it. If companies were required to fix defects (not just safely hazards) I bet they would start building them correctly before they left the factories.
