I have had my AC "fixed" 4 times and its going in again tomorrow. First they insisted it was the compressor although i told them it wasn't bc i had another mechanic tell me, they charged me 1,500 and it quit again a week later, next it was the AC line was leaking charged me a couple hundred for that and quit a week later. And now it's some pressure thing and it quit again a week later twice. But now I'm taking it in again, the dealership won't provide a loaner car even though they keep it for a month at a time to "fix" it and I'm sure I'll be charged again and it will start blowing hot air again after another week.

The A/C just stopped blowing cold air. Tested the charge and level of refrigerant and added some refrigerant. Still no cold air, will blow hot air when turn to heat. Just blows outside air temp when set for A/C. The clutch does not engage when Max A/C is turned on. We read the posts and bought a blend door part, but to get to the area to replace requires pulling the dash. Just pulling the glove box and passenger air bag won't give you enough room to get to bolts. Any ideas of what else to try before paying out the nose would be appreciated.

Air conditioner stopped working. Fan settings 1-2-3 would not work at all. The entire AC system was replaced under warranty, but 2 years later broke again with same problems.

The AC was replaced just over 2 years ago. The same problem happened again, but is out of warranty. I did not bother replacing it as it would be very expensive. The whole AC system would need replaced.

Again, blower settings 1-2-3 would not work, setting 4 would blow. Attempting to turn on the AC or defrost will bog down the engine, nearly to stall the engine.

This was the third time I had to have my A/C compressor completely replaced with this car, mind you I bought the car used in 2012 and had it for only 3 years at this point. After the third time, I did research online as to why this kept happening. Turns out Ford uses an expensive all-in-one unit for the A/C compressor, which contains (for lack of better verbiage) small blue balls that eventually burst and expose liquid throughout the system. Ford is aware that the problem is pretty common, not just in the Escape, but in other model cars as well. I would never buy a Ford again because of this recurring issue and lack of a recall. If its not a safety issue, they don't care. FORD = Fix Or Repair Daily!

This problem is unacceptible for a company the size of Ford and its reputation this should not happen. The air conditioner filter had metal filling in so therefore the equipment would not function. I purchased this vehicle for the quality that Ford manufactures but this does give me a new thought on the subject. Since this was not anything to do with my care of the escape I feel a recall is in order. My escape is not the only one that has problems. If my service records are reviewed you will see that every oil change and tire rotation has been done at a Ford Dealership.

Bought this car used it was only two years old, but had quite a few miles. Within the first year of owning it the ac went out. Estimate $1100 to fix and was still making payments. My mom and sister both had Fords (2006 Freestyles) and the A/C went out in theirs as well. No more Fords for me.
