Regular scheduled service kept up at dealer. I never had a problem with my Aerostar and drove that for well over 350,000 km. Not happy at all.

I am experiencing a hard shift at approximately 20mph with RPMs around 2000. It started this summer when I was using my air conditioning a lot. I say that because it is cooling down here in the Northwest and it is still a rough shift, but not as bad. I brought my car into my nearby Ford dealer and they said it required a software download. That was done and that didn't fit it. It is now back in the shop and is intermittently doing the same thing. We may have narrowed it down to being associated with the air conditioning. I will keep you posted. However, it is very concerning to see all these complaints about this transmission for this make and model of car. I love this car and hope it doesn't turn out to be a lemon.

From the day one, when i started the car, and drove it on road, there's a clunk noise from the transmission under the hood, sounds like the gears are harshly engaged, and there is some impact of gears. Besides that, when i accelerate, sometimes, the clutch felt slipped or grinded. I went to several Ford Dealers, they just could not detect it. Seems to me, as long as the car runs, it is fine for them.
