Electric Power Steering Assist As I was driving on I-90 heading east Saturday Evening October 2, 2021 the power steering all of a sudden stopped working causing to have wrestle for control of the steering to avoid an accident. The problem still exist and hasn't as of yet been confirmed other than the fact that the power steering is still not working. There has been no inspection There was no warning of anything the Power steering just all of a sudden stop working.
The contact owns a 2009 Ford Escape. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14V284000 (power steering). The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the recall repair was declined due to the contact not experiencing a failure. The contact felt that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact did not experience a failure.
Power steering failure (electronic). Took to Ford dealership and replaced ($878) and it failed within the day. Was replaced again. Now it is still failing and am having to take it into the dealership to re-examine again tomorrow. A recall was issued for the problem. However, the consumers VIN was not included in the recall. Updated 10/01/14.
