Tires wear uneven causing excessive noise and vibration. My Ford dealer and Ford main customer service center both stated Ford does not cover tires. My Ford dealership also told me that there was a design defect in the Continental tires which Ford puts on the vehicle causing this to happen. What I don't seem to understand is why Ford is not responsible for the tire they put on the vehicle, they put them on and then sold the vehicle to me so they should do something about it.

I did contact my local authorized Continental tire dealer and was given 50% off a new set of tires however 2,000 miles later the noise is coming back.

Also I have owned several hundred vehicles from Chevy Vegas,Ford Pinto's,small&full size pick ups, mini & full size vans, suvs and Lincoln Town Cars and never had a vehicle with such a rough, noisy ride over minor bumps at low speeds. No one can seem to find the cause of this problem.

What I have learned from this is never purchase a vehicle without driving it for a couple days to find out these problems, they will not show up during the normal test drive. It would be a different story if the manufacturer(Ford) would care and take care of the problems insteads saying it's not our problem.

It started out as unusually loud noise coming from the factory original Continental tires. We complained about this on several occasions to the Ford service department at the Crossroads Ford of Rocky Mount, NC. dealer were I bought the 2008 Ford Escape. They said, "thats normal" each time. Now after only 19,000 miles, on those same 4 tires, there is extreme tire wear on the inside only, of all 4 factory original Continental tires. That same Ford service department said, " Its because you did not rotate the tires at every oil change." They did an alignment check and said, "that was OK."

I would like to point out that there is no mention, whatsoever, in any of the service manuals that came with my 2008 Ford Escape, to rotate the tires at every oil change. Also, every oil change performed on my 2008 Ford Escape has been at that same Crossroads Ford of Rocky Mount, NC. dealerships service department and not once did they mention a tire rotation until after the extremely irregular tire wear on the inside only of all 4 Ford factory original Continental tires.

As a closing remark I would like to add that I complained about all of this to the Ford Motor Company, and their reply was,

"We recommend that you have your vehicle be diagnosed by a Ford/Lincoln Mercury dealership. Please contact your dealership to schedule a service appointment. They have factory trained technicians, comprehensive service information and specialized equipment to resolve your concerns. They are in the best position to discuss and review your request. If additional assistance is required, we suggest you contact the Service Manager. They will further assist in facilitating your service needs."
