Ford will not cover this under the 5/60000 limited warranty. they tell me this isn't an transmission problem,yet my car is leaking transmission fluid,

Update from Nov 21, 2009: I had it checked at my friends garage and he found the tranmission fluid cooler is leaking at the weld for the mount..Definately a manufacturer defect.I will never purchase a Ford (found on road dead) again . And My husband just wrote off the F-150 he wanted to get..SO they screw me for the cost (around $700) of repairing a defect , but lose my families business for life..No wonder american car companys are in such bad shape..

I traded my 2005 Escape because the transmission was slipping. I've had my 2008 Escape since I bought it new in July of 2007. 6 months after purchase I had my first transmission problem. The tranny light came on and the RPMs were ridiculously high. It was covered under warranty so I didn't really think about it anymore.

Well, a week ago and several hundred dollars later I had my second problem when the transmission cooler went out which Ford would not cover under the 60,000 mile powertrain warranty because it was not considered a "transmission problem". That's not so and I say shame on Ford for ripping people off like that. I love my little Escape but as of right now its for sale.

Please note that a TSB exists for this problem, which means that it probably occurs fairly frequently. In order to repair the problem, a replacement bolt is needed, which fastens the cooler to the vehicle. This bolt is rarer than a live unicorn - no dealer within more than 100 miles of me has this bolt. On top of that, it will not arrive at my dealer until May 2, even though Ford has elevated my order to "emergency status".

Why can't Ford just take a bolt from the assembly line, package it and ship it to my dealer via overnight courier. Why does it have to be more complicated than that? If no bolts exist at all, then the assembly line would be at a stand still, and I'm sure that's not the case. I would like to think that repairs to existing vehicles should be more important than building new ones.
