So back door hatch wouldn't open. Started occasionally then went fully out. Window portion did work and still continues. Searched for a diy solution, and found this post: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1054902-2008-ford-escape-rear-hatch-wont-open.html .... These step by steps were easy for follow. I can't take credit for the posts, I just found it. It worked for me.
