The vehicle is at the shop now. This has been going on FOR MONTHS! We typically take our vehicles to the dealership and everytime we have mentioned having to push in hard and turn it they have basically shrugged it off. They changed the starter out thinking that was the issue but apparently they should have known otherwise?

Anyways, it became a big issue when we were 600 miles from home, but we were still able to get it to start. Then a week ago, it took anywhere from 5-20 minutes to get the car to start. Unfortunately my husband had our reliable vehicle out of town and that left me in fear of going anywhere with our 2 year old because I was worried I would be stuck somewhere. I didn't even stop to get gas because I was worried I wouldn't be able to leave the gas station.

While I understand this issue happens, it sounds like a common enough occurrence that Ford should probably be discounting or covering in whole this issue. I will update when I get an "official" diagnosis.

I have read of exactly the same problems all over the internet and it is not a problem that should be taken lightly by the manufacturer. Just because it is a problem that is not life-threatening, doesn't mean that it should be ignored. It is especially hard for a woman to push the key hard enough for it to start. I have been stranded many times when I couldn't get it to start because I couldn't push the key in hard enough. I hope that the manufacturer will do the right thing and recall this vehicle to fix the problem. If not, I will certainly think twice about buying another Ford product.

Escape XLT 4 cyl

For the past few months, it has been really getting difficult to crank my truck. Initially, I did not think that much of the issue; however, it is continuously getting harder and harder to crank and it is becoming extremely annoying. I went to the dealership and was informed that it was the Ignition Tumbler that has went bad, but when I called them to see what was going on prior to my visit, I was told that the housing needed to be replaced. Both of these are mechanic guesses without going into the steering wheel. I have not had it fixed yet because I am afraid that it is more than what they are telling me and I will be surprised with an outrageous bill once they get into the steering wheel, but I am unsure as to how much longer I can go on with this problem. My key is about to break, it is so hard to crank. HELP!!!
