I bought this car (actually we bought 2 last year) used from Gates Nissan dealership North Windham, CT. I had noticed that the right side mirror was not defrosting. I had never noticed this before since the car is in a parking garage. The car was taken to Columbia Ford for repair. After ordering a new mirror that also failed to work the dealership called and said that the wiring in the auto was not the correct component. He explained that the existing wire had only two connections and that it needed 4 connections. He went on to say that there is no way that the defroster could have worked. The question then became how did the wrong wire get installed. My first thought was one of two possibilities. 1- the factory installed the wrong wire.
2- the former owner had a problem and "cheaped out" trying to get it fixed. The problem with explanation 2 is that the owner also possessed a premier repair package that would have covered this repair in full according to Ford. So it seems that Ford should make this right, They refuse and only say the decision was made and it's out of warranty, Yes it is out of warranty however a side view mirror defroster would not necessarily be used all year long so it could (and did) go unnoticed. I do know this I always purchase Toyota's before this and NEVER, NOT ONCE in 40 years of ownership experience a cheap, unresponsive company like Ford. Does Ford care if I ever buy again, not hardly. Rest assured I will never buy Ford again and I will let everyone I see or speak to of there policy.
