CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Ford Escape looks pretty good compared to other Ford Escape model years, but still has a trend of transmission problems, so it's not a model year we can recommend.
Also the base model Escape did not come with side airbags so it received a "Poor" rating from the IIHS for side impact protection. Other similar 2007 models like the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V & Hyundai Santa Fe scored far better.

Last summer I couldn't figure out why my back tires were making so much noise. I figured I would get new tires and that would solve it.
Well, I put new tires on it and it just got worse. I took it to a dealership and he test drove it returning a verdict of a bad rear differential. NICE.
I had it replaced with a junk yard differential and I was out 1,700.
The dealer said it was so rare for this to go bad. Of course, I won the lemon prize on this car.
