CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Ford Escape looks pretty good compared to other Ford Escape model years, but still has a trend of transmission problems, so it's not a model year we can recommend.
Also the base model Escape did not come with side airbags so it received a "Poor" rating from the IIHS for side impact protection. Other similar 2007 models like the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V & Hyundai Santa Fe scored far better.

I am really upset with my 2007 Ford Escape transmission starting to leak. I have the car serviced promptly and it only has 85,000 miles. My mechanic says they rebuilt 3 in Sept. and now mine. Why is there not a recall on the Escape transmissions? I now find out it was wrong that I didn't research this problem before I ever bought the Escape. I feel with all the transmission problems, there should have been a recall. Guess because its an expensive repair Ford Mtr. don't recall, if its something minor then they recall. I have driven Fords for years but I'll think twice before I buy another one. Ford Mtr. is forcing their clients to go "shop" other brands.
