CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Ford Escape looks pretty good compared to other Ford Escape model years, but still has a trend of transmission problems, so it's not a model year we can recommend.
Also the base model Escape did not come with side airbags so it received a "Poor" rating from the IIHS for side impact protection. Other similar 2007 models like the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V & Hyundai Santa Fe scored far better.

Dealer replaced tone ring by pressing on suspension for a flat labor rate of $250, part cost $12. This is the second tone ring replaced within 6 months. I was told a new shaft would cost up to $800. Called parts dept for new part, cost was $337.00. Now I have a new tone ring on a old shaft. Was misled by cost and not given the choice of new part. Tone rings breaking is a common problem with Fords, should be a recall.
