CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Ford Escape looks pretty good compared to other Ford Escape model years, but still has a trend of transmission problems, so it's not a model year we can recommend.

Also the base model Escape did not come with side airbags so it received a "Poor" rating from the IIHS for side impact protection. Other similar 2007 models like the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V & Hyundai Santa Fe scored far better.

I was driving in heavy rain, when the accelerator stuck and I had to pull over. I started losing power. This had happened once earlier in the week, but I thought it was a fluke. I put my foot under the accelerator and kept moving it back and forth...(It has been cold while this happened) I bought this car in September. Prior to this week it has never done this before. It did it again on Sat. when the dogs got out and I tried to go find them.. Dogs are back in their pen! We had plans that night, but I told my family member, we could not go before they looked at it. They did and sprayed some lubricant to the accelerator and a "cable" in the engine compartment. What if this got stuck at a high speed and I could not stop the car. I tried on Monday morning ( I should have been at work) to get a FORD dealer in a 50 mile radius to look at my car, and no one had an appointment till after the new year. One tried to get me in the 29th, but that is too far out. It has not stuck since, but now the brake problem???? What next. They claim there are no open recalls on this vehicle, but I beg to differ. AT 85000 miles you should not be having these kind of problems.....

JUST bought my 2007 Ford Escape on 27 Feb 12, and on 6 April 12 (and again today, 12 April), my gas pedal stuck. Both times were when I had pretty much just started driving, i.e., I backed out of my space and drove a little, then went to accelerate, and the gas pedal would not move. The first time I had to pull into the middle turning lane. This morning, I was on an empty drive/road, pulled to a stop, beat it to death with my foot, and it began to move again. I am flabbergasted that I have just bought a new (to me) car that I'm now finding on line has this problem, and also has a problem with just shutting off in the middle of a drive. This is a seriously horrible problem to have, the most dangerous type of flaw I have ever encountered in a car, and I see that though there have been many complaints on this, Ford is not doing a recall. I am calling my car dealer today to see about having it fixed, but am freaked out because other complaints on this that I've read this morning are saying you can clean or replace the throttle body, but the problem persists. I want to trade the car back in, after barely a month of having it, and am going to see if there's any way to do this, but I doubt they will accommodate me, and it's not a Ford Dealership I bought it from, so I'm doubly worried that, not only will they not take the car back, but won't know how, or feel obligated, to fix it. I purchased a warranty with my car that hopefully will take care of fixing it, but again, am worried that a one-time fix isn't going to do it, and I will be, literally, "stuck" with this most dangerous of problems. I thought I did a lot of research on Ford Escapes online before I made this purchase. All I saw was good thing. I didn't know you had to have a specific problem and then could go online and see the multitude of others who've had that problem. I'm totally shellshocked over this, to feel this way so soon after making this major, major purchase.

I was driving my Ford Escape and the accelerator stuck really bad. I could only get it to work each time by hitting the Cruise Control button. I googled it and lo and behold it is a KNOWN ISSUE. Ford does not recognize for the problem it is however many people have complained of it in models going back at least to 2001. It cost me $305.xx to fix and the dealership told me they've done "many" repairs of this type on this vehicle. I complained to the BBB and my state AG office. Waiting for response.
