CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Ford Escape looks pretty good compared to other Ford Escape model years, but still has a trend of transmission problems, so it's not a model year we can recommend.
Also the base model Escape did not come with side airbags so it received a "Poor" rating from the IIHS for side impact protection. Other similar 2007 models like the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V & Hyundai Santa Fe scored far better.

had a constant leak from the sun roof SINCE I bought it used at 84,100 miles. first week the sun roof broke ( clips broke off-whole other problem) so it would not shut on its own. I thought the leak was from the sun roof not closing properly. after a year of leaks every time I washed it or rain. tried to locate actual source of leak.I took it apart to see what I could do. removed headliner and found the ducts were clogged causing a back up and the water to flow elsewhere. this did resolve the leak issue
