CarComplaints.com Notes: With solid trends of engine failure — $4,500 to fix at 85,000 miles avg — AND transmission failure — $3,000 to fix at 75,000 miles avg — we can't recommend the 2006 Ford Escape to anyone except your worst enemy.
My 2006 Ford Escape has now twice used 3 quarts of oil before it's next oil change was due. There isn't any residue on the ground, so it's burning it somehow. It has been back to Bill Colwell Ford for this issue and neither time can they figure out what's causing it to do so. So, I'm going to be stuck driving a vehicle I feel unsafe in. I have contacted Ford Motor Company by both e-mail and regular e-mail to seek a resolution.
