About These NHTSA Complaints:
This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Am/fm cd player comes on with engine/ignition off. Bought vehicle in 2004 and later that year brought it back to dealer because radio would come on by itself and drain battery. Dealer replaced radio under warranty. In 2005 brought vehicle in to dealer again with the same problem. Dealer claims they could not duplicate the problem. Nothing done. In 2006 brought vehicle to dealer again with the same problem, vehicle no longer under warranty. Dealer charged $80 diagnostic fee. Stated problem was defective radio, offered to replace radio for $390 plus tax. I declined and had an after market radio installed. Problem persisted. Brought vehicle to another mechanic who located a defective fuse panel accessory control relay and replaced it. Problem no longer exists.
