CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2004 Ford Escape looks pretty good compared to other Ford Escape model years, but still has a trend of transmission problems, and engine problems from the NHTSA complaint data — so it's not a model year we can recommend.

Drivers side front headlamp was out for several months following the diagnosis. Went to diagnose issue and headlamp connector was loose. Fixed by applying Dielectric Grease to connector and headlamp bulb. Approx. 4 months later, headlamp failed again. Did further diagnosis and the top pin of the headlamp connector had melted, causing poor connection to the headlamp. Fixed with aftermarket connector, costing ~$25 to fix.
